Naturopathy.
Naturopaths combine traditional healing practices with modern, evidence-based treatments to support a wide range of health concerns.
With a strong foundation in science, Naturopaths are trained to integrate clinical knowledge with natural therapies. A key focus is uncovering the root causes of dysfunction in the body—often through the use of functional testing—to guide personalised and effective treatment strategies.
Trained extensively in biomedical sciences, including anatomy, physiology, pathology, and biochemistry, naturopaths are equipped to understand the complexities of human health. They combine this knowledge with the therapeutic use of herbal medicine, nutritional supplements, dietary therapy, and lifestyle guidance to tailor treatments to the individual.
At the heart of Naturopathic care is the belief that identifying and addressing the underlying causes of dysfunction—rather than just treating symptoms—is key to achieving lasting wellness. By taking the time to listen, investigate thoroughly, and treat holistically, Naturopaths empower clients to understand their own health and take an active role in their healing journey.

Naturopathic and Western medicine offer complementary approaches to healthcare.
Naturopathic Medicine focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of illness. It takes a holistic, preventative approach using evidence-informed nutrition, herbal medicine, and lifestyle support to promote long-term wellbeing.
Western Medicine specialises in diagnosing and treating disease, particularly acute and serious conditions. It relies on pharmaceuticals, medical procedures, and advanced diagnostics to manage symptoms and restore health.
In simple terms:
Western Medicine: Diagnoses and treats disease.
Naturopathic Medicine: Addresses underlying causes and supports overall wellbeing.
At EMME Naturopathy, both approaches are valued and often integrated to provide comprehensive, patient-centred care.

Your initial consultation is a comprehensive and collaborative session. We will explore your health history, current symptoms, diet, lifestyle, and goals. Where appropriate, functional or conventional testing may be recommended. You will receive a personalised treatment plan tailored to support your long-term health and wellbeing.
-
Consultation fees vary depending on the appointment type. Please visit the Bookings page for current pricing and appointment options.
Please note that any recommended functional or pathology testing, as well as prescribed practitioner-only supplements and herbal medicines, are an additional cost.
-
Naturopathy is not covered by Medicare. However, rebates from select private health insurance funds are being reintroduced as of 2026. Coverage varies between providers, so we recommend contacting your insurer to confirm your eligibility.
-
Functional pathology testing requires a referral from a qualified healthcare practitioner, which can be provided after you consultation. These tests are typically ordered after your initial consultation to ensure they are clinically appropriate and tailored to your individual needs.
If conventional pathology is recommended, you may obtain a referral through your GP, which may be eligible for Medicare rebates. Alternatively, private testing options can be arranged.
-
Functional testing is recommended where clinically appropriate to gain deeper insight into your health and guide personalised treatment. These tests are ordered following your initial consultation to ensure they align with your individual needs.
Testing may include:
Comprehensive gut microbiome and stool analysis
Hormone testing (e.g., DUTCH)
Organic Acids Testing (OAT)
Nutritional and micronutrient assessments
Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA)
Mould and toxicity testing
DNA and genetic testing
Food intolerance testing
Thyroid and metabolic assessments
Stress and adrenal function testing
Where relevant, conventional pathology testing may also be recommended in collaboration with your GP.
-
Absolutely. Telehealth consultations allow you to access EMME Naturopathy from anywhere in Australia or internationally. These appointments are conducted via secure video links or phone consultations for your convenience.
In-person consultations are available at Remède Wellness Medicine, located in Mosman Park, Perth, for those who prefer face-to-face care.
-
Every individual is unique. Some clients notice improvements within a few weeks, while more complex or chronic conditions may require longer-term support. This is why follow-up consultations are important—they allow us to track your progress, review your response to treatment, and refine your plan to ensure the best possible outcomes.
-
Where appropriate, high-quality practitioner-only supplements and herbal medicines may be recommended. These are carefully selected and tailored to your individual needs.
-
Supplements can be dispensed directly through practitioner-only dispensaries or ordered conveniently online via a secure platform. Practitioner-only prescriptions can be purchased from Remède Wellness Medicine or arranged for postage.
For clients living remotely, prescriptions are provided through Vital.ly—an online clinic platform that delivers high-quality practitioner-only supplements directly to your door.
Functional Testing.
The Role of Functional Testing in Naturopathic Medicine.
At EMME Naturopathy, we use functional testing as a key tool to uncover the root causes of health imbalances. Instead of just addressing symptoms, we aim to understand why dysfunction is occurring—what’s happening at a cellular or systemic level that may be contributing to issues like fatigue, hormonal imbalances, digestive discomfort, or chronic inflammation.
Functional tests go beyond standard pathology, offering insight into how well your body’s systems are actually functioning. We often incorporate the following advanced tests into our clinical practice:
Gut Microbiome Testing (stool analysis) evaluates the health of the digestive tract, looking at beneficial bacteria, pathogens, inflammation, and digestion.
DUTCH Hormone Testing offers a detailed view of sex and adrenal hormones, including how the body is producing and clearing them.
Organic Acids Testing (OAT) provides insight into cellular energy production, neurotransmitter function, detox pathways, and nutrient deficiencies.
Genetic & Methylation Testing highlights variations in your DNA that can impact metabolism, mental health, detoxification, and more.
Blood Chemistry Panels interpreted through a functional lens can detect imbalances before they manifest as disease.
At EMME Naturopathy, we use functional test results to design personalised treatment plans—combining herbal medicine, clinical-grade supplements, nutrition, and lifestyle strategies. Our goal is not just symptom relief, but restoring function and supporting long-term health.
