Naturopathy

Naturopaths combine traditional healing practices with modern, evidence-based treatments to support a wide range of health concerns.

With a strong foundation in science, Naturopaths are trained to integrate clinical knowledge with natural therapies. A key focus is uncovering the root causes of dysfunction in the body—often through the use of functional testing—to guide personalised and effective treatment strategies.

Trained extensively in biomedical sciences, including anatomy, physiology, pathology, and biochemistry, naturopaths are equipped to understand the complexities of human health. They combine this knowledge with the therapeutic use of herbal medicine, nutritional supplements, dietary therapy, and lifestyle guidance to tailor treatments to the individual.

At the heart of Naturopathic care is the belief that identifying and addressing the underlying causes of dysfunction—rather than just treating symptoms—is key to achieving lasting wellness. By taking the time to listen, investigate thoroughly, and treat holistically, Naturopaths empower clients to understand their own health and take an active role in their healing journey.

The Role of Functional Testing in Naturopathic Medicine

At EMME Naturopathy, we use functional testing as a key tool to uncover the root causes of health imbalances. Instead of just addressing symptoms, we aim to understand why dysfunction is occurring—what’s happening at a cellular or systemic level that may be contributing to issues like fatigue, hormonal imbalances, digestive discomfort, or chronic inflammation.

Functional tests go beyond standard pathology, offering insight into how well your body’s systems are actually functioning. We often incorporate the following advanced tests into our clinical practice:

  • Gut Microbiome Testing (stool analysis) evaluates the health of the digestive tract, looking at beneficial bacteria, pathogens, inflammation, and digestion.

  • DUTCH Hormone Testing offers a detailed view of sex and adrenal hormones, including how the body is producing and clearing them.

  • Organic Acids Testing (OAT) provides insight into cellular energy production, neurotransmitter function, detox pathways, and nutrient deficiencies.

  • Genetic & Methylation Testing highlights variations in your DNA that can impact metabolism, mental health, detoxification, and more.

  • Blood Chemistry Panels interpreted through a functional lens can detect imbalances before they manifest as disease.

At EMME Naturopathy, we use functional test results to design personalised treatment plans—combining herbal medicine, clinical-grade supplements, nutrition, and lifestyle strategies. Our goal is not just symptom relief, but restoring function and supporting long-term health.
